WikiProject Media has a two-fold purpose: 1) To improve the organization and quality of existing articles, categories, lists and resources, of or related to print or electronic media and to help generate ideas for new items and expansion to same. 2) To improve the organization and quality of existing articles, categories, lists and resources, of or related to mass media and to help generate ideas for new items and expansion to same.

Our aim is to have this WikiProject assist other Wikipedians in positive and constructive ways, for the betterment of this universe of articles and resources and to Wikipedia as a whole.

Goals

This project was formed primarily to develop an objective approach to a conceptual framework, that might shed some light on systemic bias within the Mass media industries. The scope has been expanded to be inclusive of the circumstances of the technology involved, as it applies to the cultures it effects.

Scope

Log line -- A broadbased WikiProject covering 1) the technical and creative factors required for print and electronic media, and 2) the economic and social issues related to media.

1. Technical and application:
   1. All articles relating to Media, mediums of all types and formats, covering -- acquisition, editorial, creative, authoring, delivery, transmission, storage, archiving, consumer and professional equipment and formats, networks, broadcast, cable, microwave, satellite transmission and low-power broadcasting.
2. Theory, analysis, economics, ethics, criticism
   1. Articles dealing with specific issues in mass media, media regulatory issues, media culture, electronic journalism, media bias, news propaganda, criticism, media ethics, standards and practices, media economics, news industry, political media, media creative specialties and skill sets.

• The White Hands Campaign is a new article about a feminist media campaign in the Arab world. Input from Arabic speakers would be especially appreciated.
• Disability in the media is a new article created by members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Disability. We would welcome participation from members of this project. The article is intended to be an overview of the way the media deals with topics related to disability. It is just a rough stub at present so there is a lot of scope for expansion.
