English: The Pitchmarket - Cerne Abbas This group of Grade I Listed Tudor cottages in Abbey Street, are known collectively as The Pitchmarket. Dating from the early C16, it gets its name from the market once held outside, where millers 'pitched' for corn. It was reputedly once owned by Thomas Washington, the uncle of the first US president George Washington.
